SG is moving to the River Arts District Spring 2021!!!

Thanks to amazing support from the local community and visitors to Asheville, Second Gear has experienced remarkable growth in recent years. This success has resulted in us outgrowing our current location.

We are excited to announce that we are moving to a new location in spring 2021! We will continue to offer the same friendly service at our new address, 99 Riverside Drive, which will allow us to offer an even larger selection of gear and services in over 10,000 square feet.

Plans include a café by Sugar and Snow Gelato who will provide lite bites and beverages while also sharing the building with Asheville Adventure Company who will provide biking, paddling, and hiking tours.

We are thrilled to become part of the River Arts District while staying close to our West Asheville roots. The continued support Second Gear has received over the past 16 years has amounted to nearly 4 million dollars paid in consignment fees to over 10,000 consignors.

We are grateful for an opportunity to expand the business and can’t wait to see what 2021 has to offer!

About Us:

Second Gear is a one-stop-shop to help you get outside and start adventuring! Locally owned and independently-run, our store is based out of Asheville, North Carolina where we've been proudly serving our community for over 16 years.

Whether you're looking to consign your gently used gear for extra cash, buy new gear for your next adventure, or simply learn more about the outdoors - we're here to help!

In April of 2004, we opened in West Asheville at 415 Haywood Road; and then in 2008, the business moved to our current location at the historic Mardis Building at 444 Haywood Road. We expanded from one retail bay, to two bays in 2011; expanding the store to 4,100 square feet. A few years later we further improved the space in 2013-2014 as part of a historic renovation to the Mardis Building. We also had a downtown location from March 2012 – December 2014, located at 15 Walnut St.

We look forward to seeing you all in the River Arts District in Spring 2021!
