We’re officially relaunching our Nonprofit Give Back Program, selecting six new organizations each year for two-month partnerships that include storytelling support, community outreach, and a donation of 1% of sales. We’re grateful to be standing stronger than we ever imagined after watching Second Gear washed away - and now we can't wait to give back to the community that made it all happen!

Meet This Month's Nonprofit Partner!

The Pisgah Conservancy

Pisgah is a truly special place. Its high peaks and lush valleys provide endless opportunities for hikers, bikers, climbers, equestrians, anglers, campers, backpackers, through-hikers, photographers, waterfall enthusiasts, and more. Pisgah is also one of the most-visited national forests in the United States. Millions of people enjoy and explore the forest each year. Although visitation to our region's public lands grows exponentially each year, national forests unfortunately lack the revenue and resources other public lands receive to help support heavy visitation. This is where we come in. The Pisgah Conservancy was created to support the Pisgah Ranger District because it contributes profoundly to the health and quality of life for all who visit Western North Carolina or who call this region home - and because it needs our help.

Our Nonprofit Program

We're proud to be an integral part of our local community!

As a consignment store, we rely heavily on locals as partners in our business, and we strive to give back to our community in many ways. Second Gear often sponsors local events & donates gift cards & products to causes we believe in.

Our primary community is our Nonprofit Give Back Program which we started in 2016, was paused for our year of recovery after the storm in 2025 and being relaunched with new invigoration for 2026 and beyond! This program will support 6 different local nonprofit organizations a year with two month long partnerships per organization.

Our bi-monthly nonprofit partner will receive a direct donation from Second Gear totaling 1% of all sales for their two assigned months. We will also feature each nonprofit on our website, in our store, on social media, as well as in local advertisements! 

Second Gear has donated $125,000+ to over 65+ local nonprofits and we look forward to adding many more to come!
