Safe Home for the Holidays with Helpmate – Saturday, December 14th

Come to Second Gear on Saturday, December 14th (11am – 2pm) for a “Safe Home for the Holiday” event.  Helpmate, December’s non-profit of the month, will be in the store to provide information & resources.

Helpmate provides safety, shelter, and support for survivors of intimate partner domestic violence in Buncombe County. With the belief that hope, change and healing are possible, and that people can transcend painful experiences, grow & thrive, Helpmate provides a number of services to our community. Located at 35 Woodfin St in Asheville, survivors of domestic abuse are welcome to walk-in to access Helpmate’s services Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. All services are free & confidential.

  • Individual and group counseling
  • Help building a safe, stable future
  • Court advocacy
  • Training of professionals and community leaders
  • Preventive education for at-risk groups including youth groups

Domestic Violence is also called Intimate Partner Violence.  Helpmate works with our community to eliminate abuse and fear by providing safety, shelter, and support for people who have been victimized by domestic violence.
