Attention Second Gear Consignors & Customers,
Obviously many of you have heard the recent news about the COVID-19 virus. While there are currently no confirmed cases in Asheville or Buncombe County, local officials have declared a state of emergency for the city and surrounding county.
We are writing to let you know that we are aware of the situation and are currently taking precautions to ensure the safety of our staff, our customers, and our community at large. As of now, our store is open for business and we are maintaining regular hours, but there are many steps we have taken to prepare for this situation as it continues to develop. We are listing these steps below and we promise to continue to provide updates as they become available.
-
We are immediately placing a full halt on all incoming consignment. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause our consignor community.
-
We are limiting occupancy in the store to a maximum of 50 customers at a time. Please note that the store rarely has more than 50 customers at any given time and this should not be a major inconvenience for shoppers.
-
We are moving our clothing racks & fixtures further apart from each other to increase the amount of shoppable space in the store and allow customers a greater amount of personal space.
-
We are actively sanitizing all counter spaces, door knobs, & other high activity areas in the store on a regular schedule, multiple times a day and each day after closing. We are providing all necessary cleaning supplies to our staff.
-
We are asking any of our staff who may feel ill or under the weather to stay home, rest, & recuperate. We ask the same of our customers, especially those who are elderly, have weakened immune systems, or otherwise may be at higher risk of spreading COVID-19.
This is a difficult time for our community and the world at large. Beyond the medical risk, there are also concerns about how this virus will impact our economy. We are doing our best to ensure the financial stability of our staff during this difficult time and to prepare for any potentially necessary store closures in the future.
To reiterate, we are currently open for business and are maintaining regular hours. We invite you to visit us in West Asheville and continue to shop for all of your outdoor gear needs. The trails are still open and the weather is warming up! If this situation changes we will notify you immediately through our social media channels, website, & email list.
We ensure you that we are taking this situation very seriously and are doing everything we possibly can to ensure the safety of our staff & community. Please direct all questions & concerns to info@secondgearwnc.com Thank you for your continued support & we look forward to overcoming this difficult time as a community.
