Visit Second Gear on Friday, January 31st from 12 to 3 pm to learn about the Carolina Climbers’ Association’s most recent projects and try your hand at rope coiling!
The Carolina Climbers’ Coalition is a non profit formed in 1995 whose mission is to preserve, enhance, and expand public climbing access within the Carolinas and beyond. We work with private land managers, federal agencies, non profits, land trusts, and state agencies to ensure that climbing is a sustainable practice on various lands. We also purchase land and open it up for public access. Our land holdings include Rumbling Bald West Side Boulders, Hidden Valley, Laurel Knob, and our most recent Buckeye Knob.
Over the years, we have worked to secure climbing access at dozens of various cliffs and boulders throughout the region. Most recently, this includes Big Rock, SC, Table Rock State Park, SC, Little Bearwallow Falls, NC, and Eagle Rock, NC. In each area we serve and/or own, our volunteer members work to create and maintain sustainable hiking trails, perform conservation tasks, and update cliff hardware.
