Whether you’re planning a long trail run through Middle Prong Wilderness or a backpacking trip along the “White Dot” Mountains to Sea Trail, this course teaches the fundamentals of backcountry navigation using a map and compass. This course is split into two portions, half on Thursday evening, the rest on Friday. It begins with the ins and outs of a compass, then applies your newly learned skills to a map in a hands-on learning environment. Each part is approximately 2 hours each and begins at 6:30pm both nights. Both segments can be attended independently of each other, but it is highly recommended to sign up for the entire course.
